Portrait Photography Compare/Contrast
I chose to compare and contrast these to images because the show two very different angles on photography. They both share the similarity of being staged. Neither photos were taken by the person in the image, even though it is suppose to look like they took the photo themselves. The main difference is the setting. The second one is clearly an attempt at a candid photo of someone's daily life while the first one is clearly imitating a selfie in an empty room.
Minimalism (I FOUND THE PHOTOS)
Sorry for not posting them earlier, I thought I had lost the photos and was going to retake them
BUT I FOUND THEM, deep in a folder I thought was empty.

Self Assigned Project
For the self assigned project I have decided to do car photography. I chose this subject because cars are my passion. I love all cars, new cars, fast cars, old cars etc. Ever since I was young i've been into cars and so now i've decided to use them as my project.

1) Five words I would use to describe Jenny are explorative, artsy, lover, traveler and solo.
2) I think she was successful. The photos are very beautiful but most of them indicate she is by herself. They also have filters on them that either make them look old fashioned or a little bit more on the artsy side. She also displays herself in many very different locations indicating she likes to travel/explore.
3) From the looks of her photo's it seems as if she is kind of a lone wolf. There's only one photo where there is indication of another person. The rest are of her all by herself doing something that you would normal enjoy with another person. So I would think she would make a good friend and maybe a good girlfriend but then again it is only three photos.

Minimalism
This photo is a great example in my mind because the background is nice an plain so it focuses heavily on the content of the image, the birds on the wire.
In this photo, the man is clearly the main focus, but the simple two tone background is great at highlighting the man.
This photo also works very well since it is shows the clashing of two fields. it has two main colors and yet it has a lot of detail.

Response revisited
2) I don't think I could have ever guessed that they painted directly on the subjects instead of using photoshop. It's almost like those artists that paint people into the backgrounds. Like in the image below.
4) I still think that they are intended to convey the same emotions I had stated in the first question. Despite the new information I have on the medium used to convey the emotions, the emotions are still the same.

Response
In the first photo, I see an oil panting while in the second photo I see a photoshopped image. they both have a red background which gives a different meaning to each photo.
1) In the first photo the mood is definitely serious. She is staring off into the distance while the artist painted her image. The second photo almost seems risqué. The image doesn't show any visible clothing and she is almost looking at the camera in a seductive way.
2) The first image looks like an oil painting because of the background. The background of the first images is something that could be easily accomplished with oil paints. The second image is definitely photoshopped though. Again, the background gives it away. It is very hard to make a gradient like the on in the second image's background with oil paints.
3) The background color really sets the mood for each photo. Albeit, the redish background sets different moods for each image. In the first image it helps set the serious tone, while in the second image it really brings out a more seductive/risqué mood.
4) In the first image, I think the artist was looking to evoke a serious response. The artist accomplished this very well, he used the pose of the woman and the colors to make the image look and feel serious. The second image almost seems to be trying to evoke a more emotional feeling about women. The artist accomplished this very well by the part of the woman he photographed and how the woman was looking at the camera.

1) I think that the most interesting thing that I discovered in my research was probably the oldest surviving photograph. Its story is very interesting and the process that they went through to take that photo is also very interesting.
2) My research told me that architectural photography is best taken during the day. I tried to challenge myself and went out to take the photos on an overcast day. I was happy with my results despite my research telling me to do otherwise.
3) If i had to do anything differently, it would be when I took the photos. Despite liking my results from the cloudy day photoshoot, I would like to take the same photos during a sunny day.
